There will be some delay before my next blog entry because I am doing my taxes. Ordinarily this does not take long, but this year I have 124 items I must claim losses on because of Hurricane Katrina. Needless to say, this takes time.
Under normal circumstances, I am not a complainer regarding taxes. I am a grownup, and I know they are necessary. This year, though, I am having some problems. I lost my home because a levee system failed that the federal government built. And yet, in the end, I will pay tens of thousands in taxes this year. You would think someone in the federal government would say, "You know, this guy lost it all in Katrina, and we can't help but feel a little responsible. Maybe we should give him his money back."
But the phone does not ring.
